"I want to be a security guard."

Many people contact us asking about how to become a security guard. Hopefully this will clarify some of your questions. Once the courses are completed you must take your certificate to a licensed PPSB company. They will register you with the state.  They will receive your guard card and will then issue you; your guard card.  You do not have to work for a company prior to coming to class but must have one to get the guard card after classes are completed.

Charlotte class schedule is the same every week unless there is a holiday that we are closed for. You can either enroll online or show up at the appropriate day and time of class. No duty gear, firearm, or ammunition is provided.

You may rent a firearm at the range to qualify however, you can only carry the same make and model firearm for work. Example, if you qualify with a Glock 17, you can only carry a Glock 17 for work.

Students are required to pass a 50 round live fire pistol qualification for both day and night fire scoring a minimum of 80% on each in order to graduate.

Plenty of people attend armed training thinking they know how to shoot and have this qualification in the bag only to find out that they were not ready. You must perform to at least the minimum standard that is set by the state. Whether or not you pass qualification rests on your ability to competently utilize a firearm.
